Stick a pin in it and call it done

Loving decoupage for realigning the outdated with the present. Bringing the sadly worn, overly loved back into our lives, providing others with usable oddities redressed in a "new to us" suit.
Hence the pictures following:
These were hauled from the midwest by us on a junkin' trip we took. Found them in an old nursing home turned junk shop. They were military stacking boxes for shipboard use. The bottom one was too beat up even for us to save. The top two were cleaned of all their sea journeys and Timm covered them with a giant play on life. They were the travelers, now they are covered by travel maps. They belonged to an adventurer who circumnavigated the globe and mayhaps they  held snowboots, tropical shorts, a pith helmet, a blow gun,a wool blanket and a hammock at the ready. Now  just a winter blanket storage/coffee table for the couch traveler. They once sat aboard a ship waiting for their owner to go ashore, now they rest on the carpet and wait for the pizza box to be moved. sigh, the stories they could tell.
Timm also made a magnetic minder board, covered it w/ a world map and framed it w/ a gorgeous old gold frame. We use magnet clips painted with travel words, postcards miniaturized, or stamps from foreign lands to hold photos of loved ones, locations we wish we could visit and minders to pick up the bread from the grocer.
